School Time

I have never loved going to school as much as I love going to Bear School!  Last weekend I attended an amazing and inspiring three day workshop with the famous Linda Benson.  Along with seven other lovely bear creators, I learnt many new skills in making Linda's polar bear.  I was very excited doing my homework prior to school - working with beautiful, soft German alpaca - and leaving a trail of fluff all over my home.....  I couldn't wait to get to school!  The first day we created trapunto leather paw pads.

Day two, the heads were commenced........
Who would have thought this hand puppet could then transform into this gorgeous face!

With Linda's guidance, skill and expertise, we enthusiastically created these beautiful polar bears!  Some of the bears gestation exceeded the three days but are sure to be born very soon......

My polar bear, Roley Poley, loves hugs
(and I love to hug him!).

He also likes to explore

And smile for the camera!

Bear School was filled with a lot of skill, fantastic company and much laughter along with a few huffs and puffs when things didn't always go right the first time........what a great time we all had!  I can't wait to go to Bear School again!

Brotherly Love

Recently the Worsley Bears family had the joy of welcoming these non identical twins!  The boys are able to be distinguished by the different density in their mohair.  They formed a special bond as twins do.  I would often discover them in different places around the house when I arrived home from work - very mischievous little boys!

Yesterday they parted company with one making his way to the Sunshine State.  They shared one last bear hug together.  He was on his way to surprise and be loved by another family.

He waited patiently before boarding the plane.

This Worsley Bear was beary excited about his journey ahead and arriving at his new home!  He will be sure to visit Worsley Bears blog soon to see what his brother gets up to..........

Twas the night before Christmas......

Here at my house, the bears are getting excited about Christmas!  They are waiting in anticipation for Santa to visit and deliver his goodies.

It has been a busy time leading up to the festivities, I have been hard at work baking some Pudding Bears.

Several will be hanging from Christmas trees around the country.  From Tasmania, to Western Australia and to New South Wales.  We can never have too many bears at Christmas time!

I would like to wish you all a Beary Merry Christmas!
Best wishes for a safe, happy and healthy 2012 with many more bears to bring us joy.

P.S. Looking forward to eating the 'real' pudding my sister has made at our family Christmas lunch tomorrow!

A Worsley Bear on Holiday - Tasman's Travels.

When Tasman heard the trip to Hawaii was booked, he was thrilled.  He packed his bags and was pleased his passport had not expired!  Tasman was coming whether he was invited or not!

Tasman is a well travelled bear.  He has already visited the United Kingdom, Ireland, New York, Los Angeles, Canada, New Zealand and of course, parts of Australia.

Before the long flight, Tasman loved relaxing in the Qantas First Club Lounge.
He felt like a VIB! (very important bear)

The first place upon arrival to Waikiki, Oahu was Teddy Bear World Hawaii!
We took lots of photos and Tasman made lots of beary nice friends.

He received a warm Hawaiian welcome - Aloha!

Hawaii is a great place to snorkel, even for bears!

Bearack Obama was also very welcoming.

Tasman is now a huge fan of Elvis after watching his show at Teddy Bear World.

As much as Tasman wanted to stay at Teddy Bear World and play with the other bears, he thought he better do some sightseeing!

He loved exploring Kualoa Ranch.  Popular television shows and movies have been filmed here.

Time for some rest and relaxation in Hilo.
So nice and warm....bit different to Tasmania at the moment....

On the Big Island Tasman explored the Volcanoes National Park.  There was so much lava!

Because of all the volcanoes, some Hawaiian beaches have black sand.

This valley on the Big Island was beautiful.

The turtles were so friendly, Tasman had fun hanging out with them.

Tasman decided he needed a driving lesson,
it was tricky learning to drive on the wrong side of the road.....

He made it to the top safely.  It was a long drive up!

It was then time to return to the beach and enjoy the rest of the time in Hawaii.
He was not so sure about this beach in Maui though....

This is the life for a travelling bear!  He loved Hawaii.

Bye bye Hawaii!  Mahalo!

Moving Out.....

Yesterday I sent one of my Worsley Bears to her new home.
She decided to enjoy the Tasmanian Winter sunshine before preparing for the big move to Victoria.
Then as it grew dark she decided to get organised for her departure.

It was beary tricky to climb up and get into her mode of transport.

"I made it!"

A couple of friends came to say goodbye....

In flight entertainment - popping all the bubbles in the bubble wrap!
"I can't wait to meet my new family!"

Welcome to the Blog of Worsley Bears!

I am pleased to have my blog up and running for you to see my creations. Some of you may already had the opportunity to see my bears recently in the latest issue of Australian Bear Creations vol.16 no.6. The bears themselves were beary excited to see their photos in print (as was I!). I do enjoy my bear making and hope you enjoy visiting my blog from time to time to see the old and the new Worsley Bears.
