Do Worsley Bears Hibernate in Winter?

For bears, Winter is the time for hibernation, and since it has been so long since I have been on my blog you might have thought Worsley Bears have been hibernating too........however this is far from the truth!

The Bears have been out and about starting with The Rosny Barn Twilight Market in July,

The Hobart Doll Show in August

And The Rosny Barn Market in September.
We have been beary busy socialising at these wonderful events!

Tasman and I also did some socialising at the Adelaide Zoo with Wang Wang and Funi in July.  I just wish they could have come home with us.......

We spent over an hour just watching them....

So, now to introduce some new Worsley Bears........

Meet Rattie, a special critter creation for a special friend on her 40th Birthday!

Phoebe's Teddy Bear was made for a new human addition to our family.

And Mr Bear, who is waiting very patiently for his new owner to be born!

Now it is Spring, time for more Worsley Bears to enter the world!  Better get bearing......

Bears and Babies

Remember these brothers?  Well twin number two has found his home now thanks to the birth of a beautiful baby boy!

When he heard about the birth he raced off to pack his bags.  He was so excited to be going to country Victoria!

So of course he needed to pack an Akubra hat to keep the sun off his face.  I'm sure he loves his new family and their home!

Bears make a very special gift for a newborn baby.  An artist bear can become a precious family heirloom to be passed down the generations.
Please contact me sally.worsley@gmail.com if you wish to place a custom order for a special new baby in your life.

Having fun at the fair!

On Friday, Worsley Bears loaded up the car and headed north to Launceston to the Eskleigh Doll, Bear and Minatures Fair.

This was the first time for Worsley Bears to trade at a fair, releasing patterns and kits for Wilfred, Belle, Bobby and Louie.

The bears absolutely loved being on show and enjoyed all the compliments and hugs they received.

The highlight for me was meeting the Steiff Titanic Bear.  He was one of 454 bears made 100 years ago when the Titanic sank to remember the people who died.  He is black because he is mourning. This Titanic Bear was valued at two hundred thousand dollars on Antiques Roadshow in 2005!
I was very very privileged to give him a hug.....

Someone else didn't want to miss out either on this once in a lifetime opportunity!

A huge thank you to the owner of the Titanic Bear for sharing him with us all.

Worsley Bears had a beary good time at the fair!

School Time

I have never loved going to school as much as I love going to Bear School!  Last weekend I attended an amazing and inspiring three day workshop with the famous Linda Benson.  Along with seven other lovely bear creators, I learnt many new skills in making Linda's polar bear.  I was very excited doing my homework prior to school - working with beautiful, soft German alpaca - and leaving a trail of fluff all over my home.....  I couldn't wait to get to school!  The first day we created trapunto leather paw pads.

Day two, the heads were commenced........
Who would have thought this hand puppet could then transform into this gorgeous face!

With Linda's guidance, skill and expertise, we enthusiastically created these beautiful polar bears!  Some of the bears gestation exceeded the three days but are sure to be born very soon......

My polar bear, Roley Poley, loves hugs
(and I love to hug him!).

He also likes to explore

And smile for the camera!

Bear School was filled with a lot of skill, fantastic company and much laughter along with a few huffs and puffs when things didn't always go right the first time........what a great time we all had!  I can't wait to go to Bear School again!

Brotherly Love

Recently the Worsley Bears family had the joy of welcoming these non identical twins!  The boys are able to be distinguished by the different density in their mohair.  They formed a special bond as twins do.  I would often discover them in different places around the house when I arrived home from work - very mischievous little boys!

Yesterday they parted company with one making his way to the Sunshine State.  They shared one last bear hug together.  He was on his way to surprise and be loved by another family.

He waited patiently before boarding the plane.

This Worsley Bear was beary excited about his journey ahead and arriving at his new home!  He will be sure to visit Worsley Bears blog soon to see what his brother gets up to..........
